Who doesn't love a good ole glazed donut, these no fuss, simple donuts will definitely impress your friends. Here's how to make them!

Ingredients For the donuts:

  • 1 packet instant active dry yeast

  • 1 1/2 cup almond milk

  • 3 1/2 cups un-bleached all-purpose flour ( I used bread flour)

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • Olive oil (for frying)

For the glaze:

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • 3 tablespoons almond milk

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup (more if needed)

How to Make Donuts:

1. In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients, flour, yeast, nutmeg and salt.  (this can be done in a stand mixer as well)

2. Then add wet ingredients, milk, vanilla, and syrup

3. Using clean hands, mix together, folding until most of dough is combined. Sprinkle a little flour onto a clean surface and form dough into a ball (add a little more flour to dough if it is too sticky)

4. Grease the same bowl with oil, add the ball to bowl (making sure to turn ball and coat all sides with oil)

5. Cover and let rise for 60-90 minutes in a warm place (I put mine onto of my oven)

6. Once dough has doubled in size, turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and roll dough out to about 1/2 inch thick

7. Using a biscuit cutter or a mason jar lid cut out donuts shapes , use something smaller to cut of the middle

8. Place on a baking sheet, cover and let rise for 30mins

- - - While they are rising, let make the glaze, mix together milk, vanilla, maple syrup. Add powdered sugar little at a time until it is a smooth glaze- - -

9. Heat oil to 350 degrees

10. Fry for 30 second or until golden brown

11. Remove carefully from oil and dip both sides into glaze while hot

12. Serve & Enjoy or let cool to room temperature and store in an air tight container for up to 2 days.
